Our First Christmas

Posted on December 27th, 2009 by Chet

As I’m sure you’ve garnered from Nicole’s writing, this was our first Christmas together. Ever. Throughout our courtship we always spent this holiday with our respective parents and other assorted relatives. However, this year, we were together in Nebraska. As strange as it was not being with our families, it was quite delightful to be with each other, blizzard outside or not. Due to said weather conditions we haven’t done much venturing out out into the world.

However, this holiday together starting our own traditions, and watching classic holiday movies (White Christmas & Christmas Vacation) and not so classic or holiday movie (Hudson Hawk & Twister), continues to remind me why I married this woman. In a nutshell, she’s awesome. In a slightly larger nutshell, she allows me to be long winded and eccentric, and plays video games with me through all hours of the nights.

As strange as it was, this was still a great Christmas. Can’t wait for New Years Eve.

Happy Christmas!

New-ness

Posted on December 19th, 2009 by Nicole

You’ll notice that there is a whole new blog design, which is thanks to my great husband. It’s inspired by a post I did on my other blog about Becoming the Gassetts.

He redone it so this website looks more blog like rather than a website, since you no longer needed all that wedding info. :)

Just thought I’d update you.

Winter Cometh

Posted on December 16th, 2009 by Chet

Nicole and I are both native Texans. If you’re unaware of Texas’ climate then here’s the crash course; Summer = HOT! Winter = Cold-ish. You see we both thought at one time that we knew what cold weather was. We knew that when the thermometer hit 32 it was time to bundle up and get prepared for a freeze. That was us last year, back when we thought snow was this mystery substance that occasionally made our clothes moist. However with our adventure into the White North we’ve learned that after a few days of single digit temperatures, a blistering 32 degrees is a godsend. I believe that Nicole is still in love with the glistening beauty of the snow, but frankly I’m tired of looking at it.

About a foot of snow on the ground.

About a foot of snow on the ground.

Furthermore, Nicole has finished her first semester as a Counseling Psychology Ph.D. candidate at UNL. She’s extremely excited, though a bit dazed by how fast the semester flew by, about turning in her final paper today. Everyone wish her well, we are going to celebrate this accomplishment later this week.

Sorry.

I’m being crappy about posting, but that’s mainly because we’re at the end of the first semester.

Give me another week, and I’ll be back on the ball.
