I got some good marriage advice yesterday while chatting with Ms. Judy.

I actually got a lot, but I really liked this tidbit:

When you have those moments that you can’t stand the other person, and it’s all you can do to just be in the room with them… just smile. Smile and think about the fact that you choose to be with this person. Smile and remind yourself that times like these come and go. Smile, because you love them and you don’t know how long you will get to be with them.

I love it. I think it is so terribly important through this wedding planning process, to remember that I love Chet. And that this is just a wedding.

It is just a wedding.

No matter the fights, the headaches, the joys or the sorrow, this is just a wedding.

The marriage is what we should focus on.

Weddings!

Our amazing friends, Krystle and Lee are getting married today!

They are such wonderful people and Chet and I couldn’t be happier that they are tying the knot!

They’re doing the Vegas wedding (which I am jealous of on my not so good days). It’s going to be streamed on the interweb, so we’re gonna sit down and watch it at 4:45.

Then, in May, they’re having their reception outside of Austin.

Congratulations you two!!!! :)

Edit:

They’re officialy married! I hope that I look as beautiful as Krystle did on my wedding day. Gorgeous!

My friends

So this is just a really fast post, but I want to post it.

My Bridal Brigade is amazing.

In no particular order:

Ashton is my fish face friend. With out her, I would probably go a bit bonkers. She’s quick to make me see the bright side, and to cool me down when I get angry.

Charlotte is my surrogate mother. This woman has known me through everything and stuck by me. She’s also going to be putting together my invitations… and paying for them as a gift to us. Besides all of that, she reminds Chet and I that it’s our wedding, and we should do it how we want to.

Jessi is spectacular. She is folding the majority of 1000 cranes. She is also designing our marriage contract. And has helped us navigate many tearful nights.

Lindsey is…. words can’t say. She’s pretty awesome. She’s my hodge podge go to gal. She helps us do just about anything, and is quick to answer the phone whenever I need girl talk.

ANd finally… last but not least…

This Lindsey is fantabulous. So much so she gets her own word. Whenever a new post comes up, she calls me to say that she’ll help with this, that, and the other. And she really does.

All of my bridal brigade is amazing, and I don’t know what I would do without them. Fo’ real.

Bridesmaids or no?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

The above was never what I really pictured my bride’s maids to look like. I don’t like the uniformity of it [amazing, huh?]. And I don’t like the idea of making my dearest [struggling to feed themselves, college/new professional] friends buy a dress that costs between $100-$250, shoes, or pay to get their hair/makeup/nails done.

And that’s why it won’t be.

So, what am I going to do then? Well, first off, we aren’t having people stand up with us. Remember, we’re keeping the wedding small and intimate and as such, we feel that the people who will be there will be those who will support us. So why single out only a few of them?

But, on the other hand, I love the idea of it. I know I am going to need the help, and I want to recognize these fabulous women/men. So, we’ve played with the idea of having a non-bridal party. I <3 my girls and I <3 Chet’s guys, so, we’re going to make this work!

This is what we’ve come up with:
My girls:

  • Listens to me complain about how expensive weddings are, how obnoxious our families are being, and does it all with a margarita and a smile.
  • Helps my mom/Charlotte throw a shower.
  • Comes to the bachelorette party if she can.
  • Helps out doing whatever she likes to do or is good at [i.e. baking brownies, making invitations, drinking, etc].
  • Helps me get ready day-of [hint: this may involve alcohol and chocolate].
  • Tells me when I’m being bridezilla, or just a bitch.

We drink alot, huh?

She does NOT:

  • Wear the same dress as all the other non-bridesmaids. She wears her own dress (or skirt, or comfy pantsuit) instead. *We may make her buy the same the shoes. More on that later*
  • Get her hair or makeup done for my wedding (you all are very familiar with making yourself look beautiful every day). *If she WANTS to get her hair or makeup done because she loves any excuse to be pampered, then I am all for that! Do it!!*
  • Carry flowers. *If you really want some flowers, I will get you some, just for being such a fabulous person*
  • Stands in front of all the other guests.

So, who are these lovely women going to be? I’ll tell you when they agree. :)
